I figured I'd go ahead and put my first post here, as this is the first chance I've had since getting the course to look over the member's site. Obviously, my name is Joe and I'm a firefighter in Missouri, so we occasionally have some down time during our 24-hour shifts. One of the other FFs bought a guitar and brought it in. I told him I played a little, having had "lessons" way back in my youth at a summer school program that taught your basic "folk guitar" (open cords, strum, strum, strum). The first song I learned was something called "Putting on the Style", I think. But I digress . . In talking with him and playing some cords, I got the bug to learn more and bought a new guitar and a book (the title is not important). I struggled through it, learned at a very remedial level to read music but eventually got so frustrated that I went back to just playing the cords I'd learned before (and some others I'd picked up along the way). I was pretty much limited to playing song I'd written and some very basic older rock or blues stuff. I talked to the wife about taking lessons, but because of my rotating schedule (3 days on duty on a 9 day rotation), set lessons on set days at set times aren't always practical. So I started searching the net for at-home learning options. I read several reviews on L&MG and it was always ranked at or near the top, so I visited your web site and was sold on the idea and the content of the program. I haven't been disapointed. I'm at session 4 now and really enjoying the process. I've noticed that even when I pick up the guitar just to mess around playing the "old" cords, my strumming is more accurate and the sound much crisper, I assume thats from the practice, excersise and confidence I'm getting when I'm trying to keep up with Steve on the workshops or playing along on the CDs. Anyway, that's my introduction and, I guess, my testimonial up to this point. I look forward to the day I can play the guitar as well, if not better, than my brother, which is another huge motivating factor for me (ah, sibling rivalry!). So, let me just take a second to shout out a huge "Thank you" to Steve Krenz for getting me back on track to taking my guitar playing to a level I've always wanted to reach. You're a great teacher and you have a great product. And sorry this post was so long.
